2010 World Cup Brackets and Knockout Stages

In the Round of 16, the first place of one group faces the second place of another group. The first from group A goes against the second from group B and vice versa. The winners make it to the quarter-finals. If both teams are tie by the 90 minutes, they play 30 extra minutes. If there is still a draw, they go to penalty kicks to see who goes to the next round. This scenario can happen on any game in the knockout stages, even on the final game. One of the most important matches was Spain vs Portugal, in which David Villa scored in the minute 63. There was some controversy about him being offside.
On the Quarter-Finals Spain faced Paraguay. Spain defeated Paraguay 1-0 with another goal from David Villa on the 83rd minute. It was the first time Spain reached the Semi-Finals since 1950.
On the Semi-Finals Spain faced three times World Cup Champion, Germany. Spain eliminated Germany with a score of 1-0, with a goal from Carles Puyol on the 73rd minute. Spain reached its first ever World Cup Finale.
